Mark Swain | Artist’s Biography
Mark has always enjoyed drawing and painting. He first got serious about art when, as a young boy, he inherited some pen nibs and a quill pen from his grandfather. Mark started rendering architecture and landscapes in pen & ink. He then discovered acrylics and started painting seascapes. It was in high school, when Mark met Roger Cushing (the art teacher and a prominent local artist), that he was introduced to watercolors. After winning numerous awards in high school and being offered an art scholarship, Mark attended the University of Utah, where he studied watercolor painting with another prominent artist, George Dibble. Throughout Mark’s professional life, he has made time for his art. He has shown at Brushworks Gallery and Appleframe Gallery in Utah, has participated in many shows, and has won numerous awards including “First Place” and “Best of Show.” Mark’s artwork is found in both public and private collections in a number of countries.
